Classic Arts and Crafts residential architecture

The challenge: Design and build a new two story, three bedroom home on a narrow 50 foot wide lake front lot.

Utilizes an open floor plan

Blends natural materials into the design such as stone and wood. Thoughtfully positions airy, light-filled rooms that encourage interaction with the outdoors. The effect is completed with the tasteful arrangement of well-designed, decorative, and useful objects.

Maximizing the amazing view

The windows keep your attention as you walk through the kitchen on your way to the rest of the house. The two large porches with their full complement of windows afford a sweeping view of the lake.

The Entry

The big challenge on this project was adapting to a narrow site.  It meant that the entrance could only be on the street side of the lot and required the main entry into the house to be through the kitchen. The entry with its faceted and somewhat winding open stair to the upper level creates a compact but striking initial introduction into the house with the ability to see completely through the house to the windows facing the lake.

The Upper Level & Turret

The two story house has the entry, kitchen, dining room, living room, half bath, master bedroom suite and a large glassed-in porch on the main floor. The upper level contains two bedrooms, a bath, an office, and a second glassed-in porch. The turret level contains an observation and hobby room. The view from the turret is worth the climb.

Additional Spaces

The house has a single attached garage and a separate two car garage with an attached workshop.
