Second story addition to an existing one-story rambler that includes a family room, bathroom and office over an existing garage with an overlook into the remodeled kitchen below.

There were two challenges with this project. The first was adding a sizeable family room and doing it in such a way that there would be easy flow to other parts of the house. This was accomplished by opening the stair and the upper half of the wall common with the new room and the existing kitchen. The ceiling in the existing kitchen was reshaped to allow the new space to become an open loft to the rest of the house. The second was giving the exterior a unified look and this was accomplished by giving careful attention to the design of the new roof line as well as re-siding the entire exterior.
