The Princeton Youth Hockey Association wanted to add on a reliable, high-quality, NHL-sized ice skating rink to their existing facility where both youth and adults could enjoy year-round hockey leagues, skating activities and events. The challenge was to design and construct the new second ice arena along with related support facilities for the community of Princeton, MN that would be well below the current average cost for ice arenas in general. The client did not want to pursue the route of using a pre-engineered metal building but instead chose to build an attractive masonry structure. In building the addition to the existing arena it included an attractive new entrance for both rinks. The facility is also used by the boys and girls high school hockey teams. It features seating for 750 people, a new lobby, a concession area, 6 locker rooms as well as public restrooms.
